My Chemical Romance (MCR) is an american rock band founded by Gerard Way as a direct result of 9/11. They make pretty good music.
I BROUGHT YOU MY BULLETS, YOU BROUGHT ME YOUR LOVE (2002)
Bullets is the first album release from My Chemical Romance, and it's one of the best debut albums ever. The whole album has an almost punk rock sound mixed in with softer, sadder songs that really set it apart from the other albums. Bullets often dips into the campy monster bucket, with songs about vampires and zombies, but these are some of the best songs on the album. My favorite songs include Drowning Lessons, Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, Cubicles, and Demolition Lovers.
THREE CHEERS FOR SWEET REVENGE (2004)
Three Cheers is the essential MCR album, it takes Bullets and gives it a darker, almost gothic sheen of paint. The sounds on this album are much more electric than on the prior, but that stylistic difference lead MCR to some of their most popular hits. These hits include Helena, To The End, I'm Not Okay, Thank You For The Venom, Hang 'Em High, and I Never Told You What I Do For A Living.
THE BLACK PARADE (2006)
Possibly MCR's best known album, The Black Parade takes a stripped back approach to the previous album's sound while throwing in something entirely new of it's own, making it something we'd never hear again. This album is often incorrectly named "Welcome to The Black Parade", but that is actually just one of the songs. My favorite songs are Dead!, Welcome to the Black Parade, I Don't Love You, House of Wolves, Mama. Sleep, and Disenchanted.
DANGER DAYS: THE TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS
Danger Days is the most conceptual of the MCR albums, taking us to a hypothetical future set in the distant year of 2015, where a series of wars have left the BLI corporation in control of the world, or at least California. We follow the Killjoys, a group who look startlingly similar to MCR, as they fight against the oppressive BLI corporation, or die trying. This album is almost comically different from anything MCR had released before, with almost techno sounds and a clear pop influence. My favorite songs include Bulletproof Heart, Planetary (GO!), The Only Hope For Me Is You, S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W, Summertime, and DESTROYA.
NOTABLE OTHER WORKS
THE BLACK PARADE IS DEAD! (2008)
The Black Parade is Dead is a live album where they play the entirety of The Black Parade. This live album was recorded at the last show they'd do as The Black Parade, in Mexico City. It's a great live album.
CONVENTIONAL WEAPONS (2012-2013)
Conventional Weapons is a series of 5 singles from the Danger Days era. These have a similar sound to Danger Days, but with a more military heavy aesthetic. Stand out songs include Boy Division, Gun., The World Is Ugly, The Light Behind Your Eyes, Kiss the Ring, Surrender the Night, and Burn Bright.
MAY DEATH NEVER STOP YOU (2014)
May Death Never Stop You is a compilation album released at the death of MCR. It includes some of their greatest hits from all four albums, as well as 3 demos from Dreams of Stabbing &/Or Being Stabbed, the bands original demo release. It also included a song from the scrapped album The Paper Kingdom named Fake Your Death. It's pretty good.
THE FOUNDATIONS OF DECAY (2022)
On a cloudy May morning, MCR released their first single since 2014 out of the blue before their return tour began. The Foundations of Decay was their gift to us for waiting so long. A 6 minute long epic, The Foundations of Decay has an indescribable (by me at least) sound like nothing else MCR ever released.
MCR5 (????)
MCR5 is the prospective 5th MCR album that has been heavily hinted at. We have no idea what it would be like, but we're pretty sure it's happening. We also think The Foundations of Decay is the first song on it and the first single. I am praying for this album dude.
